Federico Neri
Synthema, Lexical Systems Lab, PISA
Federico Neri is responsible for Business Intelligence in Synthema.
Born in 1967 and graduated in Physics in Pisa, he has been deeply involved
in High Resolution Molecular Spectroscopy studies, with in-depth knowledge
of microwave circuitry and lasers designing, with relevant skills gained
on theoric models designing required to interpret experimental data.
In 1994 he is engaged as analyst by Synthema, a spin-off of IBM Research
Center, and involved in the software development of Lexical systems.
In 1995 he builds up a Decision Support System aimed to provide better
services to citizen in the area of normative corpora. In 1996, he is
involved in the project New Data Broadcasting Node with RAI as
customer. In 1998 he participates to the development of italian version
of Text Navigator, working in team with IBM-ECAM. Besides he provides
customer based solutions and services in Text and Data Mining areas,
being in charge for technical assistance to customers of IBM Technology
Watch worldwide.
Since 2000 he has the technical resposibility on several reasearch funded
projects: some concluded and ongoing projects are HERMES (an information
delivery system based on Text Mining, Memory-based reasoning and Netcasting
technologies), HERMES2 (Machine Learning and Text Mining as technologies
for Knowledge Management tools development), WISPER (Worldwide Intelligent
Semantic Patent Extraction & Retrieval).
In 2000 he has the technical resposibility for a pilot project named
RAI VSBT (Voice SubTitling system). The system enables Speech Recognition;
Morphological, Synctactic and Semantic analyses on detected texts; automatic
text correction and automatic subtitle composition.
